| 1. Hunting scene mural on the facade of Tomb II. It depicts a royal hunt in Bactria in 327 b.C., not in Macedonia. Participants are royal sons and three Persian hunters wearing the characteristic hat still worn by Afghanistan residents. The scene of the hunt bears great similarity to references made to royal hunting parks in Bactria by Xenophon (Anabasis, A'II, 5-11) and German Historian Th. Birt (Alexander der Grosse und das Weltgriechentum, Leipzig 1924, p. 105) |
